The human rights movement “Bir Duino-Kyrgyzstan” announces call for applications for participation in the XIV International Festival of Documentary Films on Human Rights “Bir Duino-Kyrgyzstan
According to the decision of the organizing committee, the XIV IFDF on Human Rights - 2020 will be dedicated to the following theme:
People and Disasters: How to Prevent Risks from Becoming Disasters?
Disaster risk reduction is not only a matter of survival in the face of disasters, it is the development of the citizens' ability to manage risks specific to their environment in a way that would protect them from harm and improve their quality of life.
States that have joined the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030[1] recognize that the progress in this area depends on a general civil approach, which should include key stakeholder groups, particularly women, persons with disabilities, children and youth, the elderly, ethnic groups, the private sector and civil society in all its diversity.
This year's festival “Bir Duino-Kyrgyzstan” is dedicated to the theme: “People and Disasters: How to Prevent Risks from Becoming Disasters?” and will be held online.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres in one of his speeches emphasized the importance of commitment to sustainable development, even in the context of the global pandemic. Therefore, the workshops to be conducted within the framework of the Festival are dedicated to the following 8 Sustainable Development Goals and will be held with the participation of national and international experts online:
Goal 3: Healthy lives and well-being
Goal 4: Quality education
Goal 5: Gender equality
Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation
Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth
Goal 10: Reduce inequality
Goal 16: Peace, justice and effective institutions
Goal 17: Partnership for sustainable development
The applications submission period is from 9 April to 15 June 2020.
The length of a documentary film should not exceed 60 minutes.
