XVII International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival "Bir Duino - Kyrgyzstan 2023"

The XVII International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival "Bir Duino - Kyrgyzstan 2023" will be held from November 27 to December 1, 2023.
The festival will provide a broad platform for discussion of documentary truth in the field of human rights, attracting documentary filmmakers and experts, both local communities and international with the innovative format "Human Rights through Art".
In support of the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and the 75th anniversary of the UN Declaration on Human Rights, the festival joins an international campaign to deepen knowledge of the universality and indivisibility of human rights, and to empower the protection of human rights and freedoms, gender equality, inclusion and non-discrimination.
As part of the promotion of the UN General Assembly resolution declaring 2023-2027 as the "Five Years of Action for the Development of Mountain Regions" at the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic, the festival will hold events to discuss mechanisms to strengthen cooperation between mountain countries, develop strategies to counter the negative effects of climate change, biodiversity conservation and disaster prevention in mountain regions.
The XVII International Human Rights Festival Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan as part of the promotion of this initiative, in addition to documentary film screenings, plans to organize additional events such as discussion laboratories, round tables and seminars to discuss the situation in the field of human rights in mountainous countries and to develop practical recommendations for further joint advocacy activities.
The competition program of the festival is rich and diverse with documentaries for freedom, dignity, justice and equal participation of citizens in decision-making processes. There are only 25 documentaries in the competition program, including 11 foreign and 14 national documentaries on human rights.
The festival will be held together with a partner network of human rights defenders, with women's and environmental partners from around the world, and with the involvement of children and youth.
Please note that the Bir Duino Kyrgyzstan Film Festival is a non-profit and non-political public event.
Entrance to all festival screenings and creative meetings is FREE.
