Dear Mr.Zhaparov!
We are the Coalition for Equality, which is consist of 36 civil society organizations and experts in Kyrgyzstan. We appeal to the state to provide citizens with objective and balanced access to information the difficult international situation.
The Coalition for Equality is concerned because of our citizens, being in the Russian information space, receives one-sided information and the local media have no opportunity to inform citizens due to the absence of their own correspondents on the ground.
The news coming from Russian channels in our providers' digital package does not cover the needs of local audiences. Due to the information war in the media and the Internet, the abundance of fakes and the lack of understanding of what is happening among Kyrgyzstan's population, there are divisions in society, which could lead to negative consequences.
The state should make a fair decision to open access to truthful information in the current situation. The Coalition for Equality encourages for the regulation of the broadcasting of Russian state news TV channels in digital packages by replacing Russian news broadcasts with local news TV channels in the state and official languages.
We also call on journalists of the first public broadcaster (OTRK) to provide more information on the current international situation.
