ir Duino - Kyrgyzstan" invites to discuss the results of preventive visits to closed institutions and orphanages in connection with COVID-19
Окт 27.2020The first stage of assessing the readiness of prisons, neuropsychiatric hospitals and orphanages for the second wave of coronavirus has been completed.
Since October this year, the National Center for the Prevention of Torture began a series of preventive visits to correctional colonies in the Chui region. The Institute of the Ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic took part in the assessment of orphanages and psycho-neurological hospitals. In these visits, the Human Rights Movement "Bir Duino - Kyrgyzstan" acted as an involved expert.
After the observations, the experts made conclusions regarding the measures taken by the management of the institutions since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as their readiness for the second wave of coronavirus and action plans in the autumn-winter period. Research has also been carried out in the area of human rights observance.
Based on the results, a report was made, including recommendations to government agencies.

The activities are carried out within the framework of the project “Protecting the rights and preventing the consequences of CV-19 in orphanages, psychiatric, closed institutions”, which is supported by the US Embassy's Democratic Commission Small Grants Program and is implemented in cooperation with national human rights institutions, as well as authorities in partnership with the CSO network.
